Mother's Day Call
As a Mother you are ready for many things to come. The anticipation of the new baby coming. The early morning feedings. The many diapers changes. The fussy baby at all hours. Potty training, Temper tantrums, trouble 2, 3, 4, and Oh ok let's just say the changes that come with very age. Dropping them off for school that first day and your heart breaking because your not ready but they are. Hurt feelings, hurt knees, bruises, stitches, broken bones. Letting them go with friends for the first time. Trusting them when they go. Being there to listen when they have that first heart break. Listening to them when they have discovered something new or at least new to them. Being excited when they get that driver's Licenses. Helping them gain a strong testimony of their own. Being there when they run through that door after school excited or disappointed about there day. Anticipating that day they graduate from High School. Watching the grow and trying to let go. Listening to grandparents and parents try to prepare you for the next step of letting go. And now your here and that moment of letting go faces you, but your not ready for all the feelings you have during and after that first call from the field. So far away, and the call is broken at times. Trying to read what you hear in the voice on the other line. Hoping and praying the whole time you say the right things and that you don't cry. Well I have to admit that I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was. I thought I had let go pretty well. But when that moment came it wasn't long enough. I tried to be gracious and let every one get there turn. But what I really wanted was to take all that precious time. I wasn't prepared for the ache that I would feel when I hung up the phone and that feeling of gratitude that I would feel knowing that he is happy and doing great. I wasn't ready to hang up and wait months before I would speak to him again. But I do feel very blessed this morning. It was wonderful to see my other children be so excited to talk to that brother miles away. The excitement that was in our home was contagious. It was a moment that you want to stop and hold it in place for just a moment longer. I do feel very blessed to have a Son serving and doing it honorable. I feel so blessed to have 3 other Sons talking daily about the day they serve. Also a daughter that is now talking about that future and the possibility of a mission. I feel blessed to have a family sealed in the temple and all the blessing that go with living worthy of those blessing. I feel blessed to be a Mom of these beautiful spirits that the Lord has blessed me with. And that is a wonderful blessing to be trusted with Our Heavenly Fathers children. I am so blessed to have married a man that honors his priesthood, and is the most amazing Father. It makes me want to be the Best Mother I can. I never imagined I would feel this ache, but I have to say I wouldn't want it any other way. Thank You Kevin for the Call Home I love you with all my heart. It was a wonderful Mother's Day do to these blessings in my life. Thank you Kids and David, I Love you all, you are all the very best part of me.
