4th of July Tradition

In Utah there is a tradition in Layton to have a 4th of July Performance at the Layton Park Pavilion. We aren’t always there to attend but it has been happening for years. Megan and I were there during the 4th this summer. We were able to attend this traditional performance put on by the City with many different groups. My Grandfather and Uncle Paul are part of a singing group called, “Men of Song”. They perform every year at this. It was wonderful, you can really feel the spirit of the 4th when they sing. They perform a tribute to all the armed forces. When they sing tears come to your eyes. They have people in the audience stand for each of the different armed forces as they sing each anthem. As you look around and see all those standing for themselves or a loved one that has sacrificed for us and others you can’t help but be touched. This year Megan and I stood for Uncle Jay who is in the Navy. He may not feel like he is a Hero. But he is, he may be getting something back from his time served but he is still serving our Country. We thank him for that. We have a long list of family that has served at some point. David’s side- Grandpa Baker, and Grandpa Beck both served. Jason is now serving. I believe they all are Navy men. And on my side- Grandpa Anderson, Grandpa Fletcher, Grandma Fletcher, My Dad, Brian, and also my Dad’s brother Mike, and now his son is serving in the Air Force and just Graduated from basic training, Connor McCormack. Thank you to all these men and women that have given of themselves to serve at some point. It was a great night and Grandpa Anderson and Paul did Great. It was a great way to start the 4th of July week off.
