Turning 18. . . Can’t believe it

IMG_1487This is Our Kyle and he turned 18 this year many changes are coming his way. Not only does he graduate this year. But with the age change for boys and missions he will be going a year earlier than we thought. This boy of mine is full of energy. He brings energy to any room he walks into. He has a way of bringing everyone in the room to a better place. Its hard to believe we are here. Things are going so very fast. Before I know it this child of ours will be on his mission. When the announcement was made about the age change and the opportunity for boys at 18 to go if ready and worthy, there were different reactions in our home. Kyle got all excited and didn’t even hesitate in his response to say Yes, I am going. Me on the other hand, well lets just say I wasn’t quite as eager to respond with a yes. There were some tears involved due to the fact that this child would be leaving a year sooner. I wasn’t prepared for this. My mind flooded with doubts and questions. This may sound like this took hours even days to come to terms. Nope it was a matter of minutes. Why? You ask, Well because as soon as I recognize the excitement in our home with 2 boys thinking this was very cool news. I realized I needed to be on board for this too. So here we are at age 18, getting ready to start our papers and move forward. I love you Kyle. You are truly amazing and an example to me on how we should respond the Lords call. I know you have been prepared for this. I know that the Lord knew what kind of young men we would have in these days and that they would be ready for the change. I am so blessed to be your Mom. So now as we enjoy these last Track Meets and the milestones that you will hit. I am so excited to watch you accomplish all those goals that you have set. I will be there cheering you on, supporting you when needed. Give a hug when disappointment sets in, and when your frustrated with an outcome. What most people see you in are those qualities that you have that draw others in. You will be a mighty tool in the Lord’s hand. You are truly a blessing in our home. I love the text messages during the day. I love the smile on your face when you walk through the door. I love you and wish you the best year, full of surprises.
