Couldn't wait for Snowboard Season
Unfortunately its Over. . .
Broken Bones
February 11, 2011 we received a phone call at 10:15pm from a friend of Tyler's. He called and said that Ty wasn't doing to good. He had broken his wrist. OH MY!!! Well, after meeting him at Kaiser Emergency Room at 11:00pm we saw the Surgeon. We got very lucky that he was still there he was supposed to leave at 10:00pm. So we saw the orthopedic surgeon and he set Tylers wrist. He broken both bones in his wrist right crossed the growth plate. Which on Tyler was still open, but since he is 18 and not 12 they aren't too worried about it. Needless to say it was a very long night. We finally got home at 4:30am. Gave Ty some pain pills and got him set up in bed. So you may want to know what this child of mine was doing. Well it was on the last run of the night the last jump. He over rotated a back flip and landed on his wrist. The break looked like a reverse fork. They had me leave the room when they went to set it. It was pretty bad and they kept checking him because it was so purple looking and swollen. But now its been a couple of weeks and hopefully tomorrow he will be able to go to a smaller cast. He is really bummed about his season being over but I am glad it was something that could be fixed. These pic dont do the cast any justice these were taken before we back on the Tuesday after to make sure that surgery wasn't in the cards. After that appointment they went to recast it, but the Dr didn't want to risk moving anything so they recast over the old one. It is a breast of a cast goes way up past his elbow so that nothing can move. So although I know this wont slow down my Boy. At least for a little while I can relax. . Well Maybe!
